Social Security Disability/Supplemental Security Income
The law defines disability as the inability to engage in substantial gainful employment by reason of a medically determinable physical or mental impairment. You must have a severe impairment which makes you unable to perform your previous jobs as well as any other substantial gainful activity which exists in the national economy. Social Security Disability is governed by complex rules and regulations which take into account not only physical and mental conditions but vocational factors as well.
If you have been denied benefits at the reconsideration level, you may ask for a hearing before an administrative law judge and are provided an opportunity to present additional evidence of disability. You may be represented at this hearing by a lawyer.
Bailey, Stultz, Oldaker & Greene represents claimants at all levels of the Social Security administrative process as well as in the federal courts in appeals of the denial of benefits.
